Magnolia x 'Gold Star'

The late Phil Savage (Phil died from West Nile complications) crossed magnolia acuminata ‘Miss honeybee x magnolia stellata ‘Rubra’ to produced this wonderful plant, its fast growing, as much as 2’ per year, with the habit of an open growing stellata. The 4” yellow star like flowers appear before the leaves, which unfurl bronze red, and change to green as they mature.
